Who We Are
Oando Foundation is an independent charity established in 2011 to support the Nigerian government in achieving its Universal Basic Education goal. Through the Adopt-A-School Initiative, the Foundation has garnered over a decade long experience and accomplishments, supporting basic education access and quality across 88 adopted schools in Nigeria through an integrated whole-school improvement approach.
The Foundation’s new strategy – LEARNOVATE prioritizes innovation and investments in foundational learning quality across target schools, emphasizing foundational literacy and numeracy skills’ mastery (Learning), green skills development (Planet), and sector thought leadership (Advocacy).
The Foundation is also registered with the UK Charity Commission and as a Charity in the United States with a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.

Oando Foundation has been named a Category A recipient at the 2015 Lagos State Government Support our Schools Initiative. The Support Our Schools Initiative recognizes and rewards Companies, Individuals and NGOs for their commitment to education and the development of public primary and secondary schools in Lagos State.
Lagos State Government State Universal Basic Education Board Merit Award 2014
Oando foundation was honoured by the Lagos State Government State Universal Basic Education Board for meritoriously supporting the Primary school education Sector on December 4, 2014. It was an award that highlighted the efforts of the Foundation’s Adopt-A-School initiative.
Oando Foundation bags 2014 SERAs Awards
On Saturday November 8, 2014, Oando Foundation beat three other companies to emerge winner in the category Best Company Design for Sustainability at the 2014 Nigeria CSR Awards.
The Nigeria CSR Awards recognizes and promotes the role of corporate organizations in Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility in Nigeria. The award for Best Company Design for Sustainability was presented to the organization that has consistently demonstrated commitment to community development by designing a clear-cut model that is innovative, scalable; sustainable and has a proven ability to affect lives.
Prior to clinching the award, Oando Foundation participated in a verification exercise which involved visits to its adopted school locations and interviews with beneficiaries and stakeholders. The final selection was done by a panel of judges, made up of eminent Nigerians, active and distinguished as professionals and with impeccable records. Oando Foundation was also nominated in the ‘Best company in Education’ category.
Lagos State Government State Universal Basic Education Board Merit Award 2013
Oando foundation received a Recognition Award by the Lagos State Government State Universal Basic Education Board for meritoriously supporting the Primary School Education Sector.
2013 Africa Oil & Gas Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative Award
Oando Foundation won the 2013 Africa Oil & Gas Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative Award. The prize was awarded to the Foundation in recognition of its continued commitment to improving the learning environment in public schools across the nation. The Africa Oil & Gas Awards are the only awards for the industry in Africa, and are judged by a panel of African Ministries for Energy and oil and gas operators.
Lagos State Ministry of Education 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility Award
For the second consecutive year, Oando Foundation on 14 March 2013, was bestowed with the Lagos State Ministry of Education Corporate Social Responsibility award, in recognition of its participation and commitment to the Ministry’s ‘Support-Our-Schools’ initiative.
Lagos State Ministry of Education 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility Award
Oando PLC on Tuesday, 24th January 2012 was bestowed with the Lagos State Ministry of Education Corporate Social Responsibility award, in recognition of its participation and commitment to the Ministry’s ‘Support-Our-Schools’ initiative.
Under this initiative, Oando has adopted and carried out extensive refurbishment of 4 schools in Lagos state namely: Archbishop Taylor Primary Schools in Victoria Island; Idi-Odo Primary School, Gbagada; Ogo-Oluwa Primary School, Gbagada; and Temidire Primary School, also in Gbagada.
Tokunbo Durosaro, received the award on behalf of Oando PLC from the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Babatunde Raji Fashola.

Oando Foundation received an award for its contributions toward developing education for children with special needs
Mushin Local Government Education Authority Award 2016
The Mushin Local Government Education Authority recognized Oando Foundation for their contributions towards school improvement in their community.
Educational Crisis Response (ECR) Project Merit Award 2014-2018
Oando Foundation received a merit award from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in recognition of its contribution to the educational development and wellbeing of out-of-school internally displaced and host community children in Adamawa and Bauchi states under the USAID-funded Education Crisis Response project (2014-2018).
The LAPRIGA (Lagos PR Industry Gala Awards) 2019
Presented to Oando Foundation in recognition of its efforts in building positive and sustainable relationships in communities with key individuals, groups and organizations, demonstrating sensitivity to community concerns and issues and designing and implementing community programs that improve the quality of life.
African Cleanup Conference Award of Recognition 2021
The Foundation received an award of recognition for its contribution and support to the African Clean-up initiative and environmental sustainability.
